If you ask me, I think we should remove the airbags from his sword and watch him hurt himself... speaking of which, Zylaa should post that comic =)

Swish, FOOM! And now, another rant from me.
Galbatorix. Why should I care about Eragon trying to defeat him? I mean, I know nothing about the guy except for what the characters tell me. For all I know, he's really not that bad of a guy and all the Riders were wrong. Look, when I'm writing TaleTrin, I made sure people are aware of the villans (who, incidentally, are the Chosen Ones of the story), their motivations, and personality. In a way, most of the TaleTrin villans are more pitiable than hateable, but that's better than nothing. Why should I care about the hero's struggles if I know nothing of his adversary?

Oh yes. And, for people that have read the second book: Oromis challenges Eragon as to why exactly he's fighting Galbatorix. And Oromis makes some very good devil's advocate points. And Eragon never comes up with the answer.
Also, how the heck do you pronounce Galbatorix?

The world may never know. And I am almost sad I never read the Red Brick and thus missed that scene. Almost.

No, you are not sad. Because to get to that scene you must wade through most of the book.
Oh yeah- there's one minor thing that really annoys me. In the red brick, they're eating with the dwarves. The dwarf dude says: "I had the tables moved out here so your dragon could dine with us." Eragon gets all miffed because "unintentionally or not" the dwarf had treated Saphira like no more than an animal. How is moving the tables for her treating her like a bloody animal?!?!

'Red brick'? haha XD
I don't think I have any more authority to make fun of Eragon and Paolooni 'til I've read Eldest e_e and then I suppose I'll read it and have the authority again, and then once the third book is published, I'll LOSE the authority until I've read THAT... but then, I'll have aforementioned 'thority forever yaaay =D
...unless he writes MORE. Dun, dun, dun. Er, on second thought, I won't bother reading Eldest after all >.>

No, you definitely have the authority. He hasn't changed that much in skill at all through writing another book. He's actually gotten worse.

... I am probably being slightly hypocritical here, but yes Ebil, you have every right to mock Paolini even though you haven't read Eldest. Because he really didn't improve.

Usually I don't like people slamming book series without reading all the stuff. Don't ask me how the logic of this works.

Usually I don't like people slamming book series without reading all the stuff. Don't ask me how the logic of this works. I don't know why one would need to read a whole series to realize that one doesn't like it, particularly if the things that you don't like it for are stylistic rather than plot-related. >.> Though making fun of the plot should probably wait until you know what happens with it. For instance, there's no reason you'd need to have read all the books to make fun of the "dueling with real-but-not-sharp swords" thing. Or most things related to swords in the book, actually. XD (I didn't mind the book that much, but the way they dealt with swords made me snerk at it)

Usually I don't like people slamming book series without reading all the stuff. Don't ask me how the logic of this works. I try to avoid doing that... but mainly because I've noticed people get yelled at if they do it, not because I have a personal stand on it >.> I think fans try to use it as a last desperate excuse to defend their book... if you really have read them all, they can't use it... ...they should NOT be practicing with real swords. "Sharp" or not. Unless they're airbag-equipped.
