One: Don't you HATE it when you think you've made up something original, only to coincidentally find something else that's exactly like it? D= Which applies to worlds, characters, plots... whatever.
Example, although I find this more funny than annoying... my character Xenec, from Spiral of Atlants... Well. I read Magic Knight Rayearth recently. ^_^; And... it turns out that the character Eagle Vision looks just like him, acts similarly, and even has Xenec's thing of passing out after using too much of his powers... Fortunately, there are enough differences between them, and different explanations of their personalities and weaknesses, that I think I can get away with it. ^^;
But srsly when Eagle showed up, I was all "ACK IT'S XENEC D="
Two: Don't you ALSO hate it when you read two books with incredibly suspicious similarities? You know... you like the first one when you read it, then the second one makes you go "waitaminute!" and then words like "plagiarism!" are running through your mind... I can't think of any examples right out, but there were definitely a few. D:

On #2: Many things from Robert Jordan's books were blatantly ripped off by Terry Goodkind.
On #1: - One of my favorite characters in my book is a humorous, wisecracking, cynical red female dragon. Imagine my surprise when I read The Sword of Truth and found a cynical red female dragon.
- One of the stories I began writing contains a romantic subplot that exactly parallels the beginning of the romance in Jane Eyre.
- When I was a small child, I was a Disney fanatic, and to pass the time as I was going to sleep, I would make up huge mishmashes of Disney characters having epic battles with all the Disney villains, with myself alongside the heroes, of course. I eventually put that aside, because as I grew older I realized that nobody would pay money for a story about some random kid mixed up with all the classic Disney characters.
Not that I'm bitter.

As it turns out, the character Song of Ages from Tales of Virtue...is apparently named after a song from Legend of Zelda OST.
If I absolutely had to unintentionally rip something off, why couldn't it at least have been from an obscure video game?
