And now that I have your attention, I have a proposal for everyone. I'm scripting a console RPG (and by that, I mean literally writing the script for, not programming) tentatively named Tales of the Unknown. Because I couldn't think of any other name at the time. And because this is a Tales game, I am legally required to have some ridiculously powerful secret boss. Except I'd like to do something slightly different. Instead of having just one boss (like Abyssion, Neried, or Nebillim), I'm going to have several. Which is where I need your imput.
I'd like to have a series of bosses, all in the same location, and they will be based off of the forum members here. Actually, the whole dungeon is based off of the forum. It's called the Abandoned Metropolis Re Tsaot (spell it backwards), located on scenic Island-in-the-Sky. Aside from just boss design, I'd also appreciate help in designing the random encounter monsters. I've already got a few, but any references to bad (or good) fantasy would be appreciated. The monsters are also supposed to be our underlings, so bear that in mind as well. Here's a basic overview of Re Tsaot:
Name: SUPAR SEKRIT DUNGEON Abandoned Metropolis Re Tsaot Location: Island-in-the-Sky, Parsek Monsters: Ice Weasel, Kamaitachi, Demicorgi, Expendable Soldier, Slightly Less Expendable Soldier, Cliche Evil Minion, Barghest, Elloel Bosses: Xicrog, Zylaa,Katanal, whoever else signs up Important things: The Gnarlstone, an items which allows the skill Summon: Re Tsaot. Well over half of the best available equipment for each character. Temperance's notes: I've read about this place in the history books, not that they're a reliable source. This was the old capital of Parsek, but for some reason it was changed to Septvina fifty years ago and all its inhabitants moved. Just a rumor, but that might have something to do with the experiments they were supposedly doing with the human genome. But for whatever reason, rumors seem to be more often true than not. Guess we'll find out when we start investigating this place. Better be careful- it's absolutely crawling with nasty Vices here. According to rumors.
Further details next post
Edit: Oh...I didn't consider the fact that some people here might not know what a console RPG is. PM me if you have no idea what I was talking about in this post and want to know what the heck an RPG is.

Okay! Sorry for the double post, but here's my bio so I can give you an idea of what I'm looking for. Name: Xicrog Quote: Yip yip yap bark, hooowwwlll! Description: A cute little corgi with an ominous corgi-sized black robe. Blue merle with walleyes and tan points, not that you know what that means. I can't describe it, so here's a picture: www.tegiet.onsi.pl/images/rasy/Cardigan_Welsh_Corgi.jpg Speaks only in barks, yaps, and other canine sounds, but thankfully (?) Temperance can understand her. Base Techs: Righteous Fury, Summon: Demicorgi Pack, Cry Havoc, Sonorous Howl, Swarm of Fangs, Surge Breaker Mystic Artes: Indignation, Crusade Reborn, Dog of War Strengths: High offensive capabilities, small and makes a difficult target Weaknesses: Low HP for an endgame boss, poor defenses Strategy: Not getting hit is a good idea Temperance's notes: Well, that was interesting. This was a guard dog we ran into in Re Tsaot. I'm starting to think those rumors of genetic testing were definitely true, and they must have started on dogs. Who ever heard of a dog that can cast mystic artes? Battle Quotes Nothing she says is actually in English, but is rather translated in subtitles at the top of the screen. Of note: Sonorous Howl: Return from the abyss of death... Opening: You'll go no further! Dog of War: Leave...here...now! Indignation: I, who stands in the full light of the heavens, commands thee, who opens the gates of hell. Come forth, divine lightning- this ends now, Indignation! Crusade Reborn: O purifying fires of purgatory, cleanse these sinners of their crimes! Guard broken: How dare you! Stunned: I screwed up... Win quote: You should have left while you still could. Any last words?: This...this can't be happening... You get the idea. If you need any further help understanding the Tales series or RPGs in general, PM me. And I'll need somebody to take Meteor Storm and Time Stop (series tradition- all secret bosses in my recent memories have these techs). If you aren't familiar with Tales, don't worry too much about techs and the like, what I need the most is a description of what you want to look like. Feel free to come up with a tech set if you want to, though.

You made a great thing for me already. ^_^ But as you asked, my persona is a weasel. Whatever degree of anthroness you prefer is fine.

Yeeeesssss...but I gave you weasels as a summon monster type thing. Ice weasels, nonetheless. Don't you want to be an elven princess or something? And we already have one beast-type person (me). And I wasn't done with it yet. Oh, you're the former mayor of Re Tsaot, appropirately enough. I decided this five minutes ago. (kind of writing Re Tsaot's story as I go; I'm hoping some of the entries will strike me with divine inspiration.

Alright, I'll go from there. Hmm...(looks through Big List of Final Boss Cliches). How about being the random angelic looking person who has a chorus in their battle theme for no reason whatsoever... ...you can have Shining Bind. If you know what that is (probably not; I think I'm the only Tales fan here). Well, let's just say it would be appropriate.

Double-posting again. I'm foregoing Zylaa's description until I come up with something, but here's her quotes, techs, and such: Name: Zylaa Quote: Such lamentation! Just kidding. Pow Hammer! Techs: Celestial Elegy?, Thunder Lance, Final Embrace, Summon: Ice Weasel, Blizzard, Maelstrom Mystic Artes: Indignation Judgement, Strange Harvest, Absolute, Time Stop Strengths: Everything Weaknesses: I'll get back to you on that one. Strategy: Power-level. And don't get hit. Battle Quotes Celestial Elegy?: Such lamentation! Just kidding. Pow Hammer! Win quote: A winner is me! Strange Harvest: Here is a fruit for the crows to pluck! For the sun to rot, for the trees to drop! Here is a strange and bitter crop. Time Stop: Make the instant eternal. Time Stop! Indignation Judgement: I'll show you powerlessness...Indignation Judgement! Guarding: Pointless. Guard broken: Curse you and your fiendish ways! Summon: Ice Weasels: Come to me, my familiars! Stunned: Do not want... Any last words?: My...cabbages... Blizzard: O crystals of ice born on the strains of a storm, rain down! I know I don't have everything yet. Hmm...got any interesting ideas, Zylaa? And here's part of Katanal's. Name: Katanal Quote: Fear me, thou mortals! Description: ToS-style angel, glowing ethereal wings and all. They're gold, FWIW. Wears a black trenchcoat and...stuff...give me a day or two with this, I'll think of something better. Techs: Photon, Holy Lance, Infernal Prison, Summon: Angelic Chorus, Flare Tornado, Downburst, Seraphic Radiance Mystic Artes: Meteor Storm, Shining Bind, Seventh Circle Er...more later? I really could use some imput. Edit: Chorus summon it is! *cackle*

<grammarnazi>Shouldn't that be my cabbages are pleased? </grammarnazi> And now that I have lured you here, what do you think of your bare-bones description? I'm trying to make you as over-the-top as possible...hm. Maybe you should have an attack where you summon the angelic chorus singing in your BG music to attack? That would be so awesome.

Yes! Yes! You have reacted just as hoped! We have grammarnazi jokes in the script of MC as well. And summoning the angelic chorus would be hysterically awesome.

Nice to see you're enjoying that. Check your techs, Kata, they've been edited somewhat. And I'll work on your quotes...soon.

No quotes for Kata yet. But, I have thought of more Vices (monsters) and have been working on the plot! Check the first post.
As for the plot, Re Tsaot is the birthplace of Pathics (the people with special powers ingame). And it also held Paracelsus' Chamber, which means it is also the birthplace of Vices. Well, the Chamber is still there. But it's empty. LOL PLOT POINT.
Anyway, Paracelsus' Chamber was a labratory where the scientists within attemped to create artificial life. Of course, everything went wrong in this effort. The resulting creatures were violent and generally defective. Ashamed, the scientists destroyed what creatures they created and sealed off the lab. But not for long.
Bwahaha. That's another story for another time. The Pathics were just experiments on the human genome, an attempt to bring humankind to their full potential. Though Pathics were very rarely born naturally, the Re Tsaotans tinkered with the human genes to reactivate the Pathic gene. And to be more straightforward about it, they were basically eugenicists.
Whew. I just realized I really need to write about what Vices and Pathics are. Check on the Refrigerator Door, I have a thread with TOU and TaleTrin stuff on it.
