Another Guy Gavriel Kay book, this one a trilogy.
It's sort of like the opposite of Eragon- a book that knowingly draws in a lot of elements of other fantasy books, but this one actually has it's own original spin on the things and it's own plot. Another saving the world from ultimate evil plot.
And it has a hot disreputable prince, which is always a plus. *shot*

*sighs and starts trying to revive everything*
Also one of GGK's books that I don't really like. With the third book, at least, I stopped midway through to read something else (I forget what), which I wouldn't have done if I really liked the trilogy. I think it's because I dislike books set on Earth, as well as 'save the world' plots. And I didn't really like the characters. Especially plot-device-kid whose name I forget. The Ultimate Evil's kid. He was weird.
Oh, and I keep pronouncing the name Finovar instead of Fionavar.

I haven't actually finished it... I'm midway through the second. It gets bad? Aww. That's saddening.

Not bad. I just don't like books set even partially on Earth, that's all. And the characters start to annoy me a bit. But quite a bit of that is personal preference, so...
