Although the setting was standard fantasy, the plot was entertaining, and the writing even more so. I wonder how much of the humor they're going to transfer into the movie, since a lot of the humor was in narration.
I also wonder how much of the language, gore, and romance they'll transfer to the movie. It can't be too much, since the movie is PG-13.
Oh, and Neil Gaiman has the best line ever in his Acknowledgements section: "The kids, to be frank, weren't any help at all, and I truly don't think I'd have it any other way."
