Back in 1989, many wonderful things happened, not the least of which was the release of "The Little Mermaid." This began a joyous era, at least for those of us who grew up then, of excellent Disney movies, movies that won Oscars for things besides "Best Animated film." That was then. And now Disney has been taken over by Hannah Montana, and their animated movies are gone, and things are very tragic on the movie front.
So I was wondering: Where do you think it stopped? Which movie should count as the last classic animated Disney movie before everything went downhill?
Notes: I haven't included Pixar because they continue to produce lovely movies like Wall-e in the midst of the preteen girl squealing over Hannah Montana. I also have not included sequels, because unplanned Disney sequels are a destruction of all that is good and pure of my childhood (This may be a slight exaggeration). The list is in chronological order.
And for those of you who are Hannah Montana fans... you may make your own topic. >_>

I had trouble with this question, because while I liked many of the later movies quite well, I do not consider them 'great,' merely 'good.' Therefore, I went for the stickler interpretation and voted for Tarzan as the last of the Greats. If it had been ones I merely liked, Brother Bear would probably gotten my vote.
Yeah, that's the angle I was going for- for example, I really liked Lilo and Stitch, but it's in the middle of movies that I didn't think were up to par.

D: Nonsense! I shall join you in fangirling of Tulio. Just because he was made by Dreamworks doesn't mean he's any less fangirlable. ... And that is totally a word. >_>
I'm going with Mulan. ^_^ The last one where the characters themselves spontaneously break out into song. I think. Does Tarzan have anything beyond the scene where the apes play percussion in the camp?

If you're going by that logic, surely the Emperor's New Groove should get a mention? XD I love that film, and I only just noticed it in the poll. Although my love for llamas might make me biased >_>
Emperor's New Groove was indeed awesome, but I don't think the characters sing in it... except for Kronk's theme music as he sneaks around, of course. XD

Emperor's New Groove! That is so one of my favorite movies ever. <333 Though I think I would really like Treasure Planet too if I'd seen it more.... I've only seen it once, and it was awesome, but I don't remember it too well.
Though, spontaneous breaking-into-song is a good point. (And Tarzan did have at least one other song, Tarzan's "Strangers Like Me" number...) I swear, everything is better with spontaneous singing. Real life should TOTALLY be a musical.
I'll be honest, whenever I'm bored in a lecture I totally imagine the teacher and the entire class spontaneously bursting into song and dance, somehow concerning the subject matter.
I'm taking mostly Criminal Justice and Psych courses, so I think you can imagine how very interesting these mental images can get. >_>

XD Lectures would be so much more interesting in musical form! (This also reminds me of Improv Everywhere's Food Court Musical.) Life, too, would be interesting if more people burst into spontaneous song (besides my mother's side of the family, who do that all the time already. XD).
And Elcie, Tarzan didn't sing "Strangers Like Me," it just played in the background as he was learning about humans. So yeah, it had a song relevant to the subject matter, but he wasn't singing it... right?
